Thornfield

HARESTON | NR YEALMPTON

A brand new contemporary 5 bed home with large garden and its own orchard.

Thornfield is the final house to be built at our Hareston Farm development near Plymouth. Still under construction this new home is being built to the highest standard and is light and spacious with an open plan living area.

The property is situated in the far north eastern corner of what was once Hareston Farm and benefits from being in a slightly elevated position with long westerly views over adjoining open countryside.

This detached home boasts an acre of westerly facing amenity land providing a beautiful orchard area with a magnificent old walnut tree. Designed by the well-respected South Hams practice of BBH Architects, the entrance to the property is through an impressive, light, galleried reception hall.

The very spacious open plan living, kitchen, dining area has doors opening out onto the garden, creating the much sought after easy living from inside to out that so many seek. Upstairs the property benefits from two en-suite bedrooms with the principal bedroom having a balcony with stunning views over farmland to the west, perfect for watching the sun set.

Originally built as model farm, nearby Hareston Farm Barns is now an exclusive range of high-spec homes. Dart Developments have recently finished a very sympathetic project, preserved the original fabric and character of this impressive range of old buildings which are now all lived in.

Location:

Strategically well set in the beautiful rolling South Hams countryside, a short drive south of the A38 Devon Expressway, 2 miles north of the superbly equipped village of Yealmpton.

Plymouth City Centre and its historic waterfront are only 5 miles away. The wide open spaces of the Dartmoor National Park, the unspoilt South Devon coastline, and the yachtsmen’s haven of Newton Ferrers on the Yealm Estuary, are within 20 minutes’ drive.

Historial note on Hareston Farm Barns

In 1903 the Plymouth Cooperative Society purchased Hareston Farm (149 acres) to help with ever increasing demand for its products and erected the beautiful stone buildings you see today.

The redevelopment, primarily as a dairy farm, was completed in 1908. The characteristic stone used in the construction, with brick quoins and occasional granite dressings, reflects later 19th and 20th Century architectural styles for substantial agricultural buildings in this part of the Westcountry.
